Personal Safety & Security Training
We believe that the phrase ‘hostile environment’ does not simply refer to conflict zones such as Iraq, Sudan or the Southern Philippines.
There is a basic level of personal safety training which can be of benefit even in ‘safe’ environments such as the UK or Western Europe.
For example, knife crime is on the rise in the UK and the use of edged weapons in assaults in London, in particular, has been identified by the Metropolitan Police Force as a major, city-wide problem.
Our personal safety & security courses aim to ensure that attendees leave with a better understanding of ‘situational awareness’ and the avoidance of potentially dangerous scenarios arising from everyday situations by taking a two-pronged approach.
Firstly, attendees are taught about personal security measures that are applicable in daily life.
Secondly, the course presents the basic skills needed for dealing with problematic situations, through the use of both verbal and physical intervention skills.
Our courses are tailored to our client’s individual requirements, but basic units include:
- Personal safety
- Situation awareness
- The effects of stress
- Tactical communication
- Assault, the law and you
- Staying safe: avoidance, prevention & deterrence
- The use of common objects for self-defence
- Releasing from common holds and grabs
- Edged weapon awareness
- Escorting a third party to safety
Courses can be run individually, or in groups, and can focus on the practical aspects of self-defence or even be used as a team-building exercise.
The training is delivered by instructors who have many years of experience in conflict management through either military or police duty. Through comprehensive training, we also aim to emphasise that any action taken must be reasonable, justified and necessary.
