Site Threat Analysis & Protection

The preparation of an accurate up-to-date assessment of the threat to security is an essential preliminary to security planning. The threat assessment must be regularly revised in the light of the current security situation.

Where necessary, security instructions and standard operating procedures must be amended to meet the demands of a revised threat assessment.

Our analysts will always relate the threat to the type of location and/or target organisation in order that the format and amount of protection to be given can be correctly assessed. Factors that may affect the threat include:

  • The quality, training and motivation of hostile organisations and their methods of operation.
  • The vulnerability of organisations and locations to surveillance, espionage, sabotage, terrorist attack or other criminal activity.
  • The contact that employees and personnel at the target locations may have with the local population, press, other organisations’ employees and other persons that could lead to subversion or leakage of information.
  • The quality of defensive measures, including the construction and layout of buildings, security procedures and awareness.

Our threat assessments will broadly indicate those targets which may be subjected to attack. In conjunction with the client we then define those items which must be protected and afford them the degree of protection relative to their importance. This results in all relevant personnel knowing what needs to be protected and the degree of protection that should be given.

There will also other targets indicated by the threat assessment, which will have to be defined and given suitable protection including:

  • Vital installations and buildings (for example, research, marketing information, new product launches).
  • Vital equipment & technology
  • Key personnel where a threat of subversion, sabotage or terrorism exists.
  • Activities, such as product launches, seminars, new technology briefings.
Our former special forces operatives and information security specialists will, if necessary, perform covert methods of entry and penetration testing to establish weaknesses, while our counter-intelligence & security analysts assess the effectiveness of existing security procedures, before devising and advising on improvements or completely new security architecture.
